I paid a broker to find me an apartment but just a few months of living in my new spot and having horribly loud neighbors, building management allowed me to break the lease and move out. Is there any way I can get the one-months rent commission back from the broker? When he was showing me the apartment he said the neighbors were the nicest people he's ever met. That was a straight-up lie since they're the rudest people I've met.

You should be happy you only paid one month.

More than likely the broker doesn't even have the money because he makes $35k/year.

You can ask if he'll find you another place for no fee or reduced fee, but no way legally he needs to refund anything

You should thank your lucky stars you were let out of a two year lease only one month into it. Imagine what it could have cost you if you had moved out in order to preserve your sanity, and you were still responsible for paying the rent?

Also, common sense would tell you that "nicest people I've ever met" is an opinion. There is no way to prove someone is lying when they are giving their opinion. I mean, I'm sure the broker was in fact lying, but it's not able to be proved, and you're not getting your money back.

This is true. May i ask what made you assume the agent knew who you neighbors were? Unless his firm represents the entire building or if he put the people in that apt theres no way for the agent to know.

Why don't you ask him? Perhaps the refund policy will be similar to this:
"We will gladly refund unspent portion of your commission."
