Wait wait wait....what happened to black lives matter? That's five extra people, likely majority black, that have been killed just over last years stats. So we are just going to say that's okay? We had city / nationwide protests bc a career criminal, eric garner, died after fighting an arrest. But now these extra five people don't matter?
Al Sharpton does not get upset over black on black violence.
Nope, he don't. It's not a story. He can't make $$$ off black on black crime.
It is not in the best interest of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Obama or any black "leader" to address black on black crime as the simple act of addressing it on an ongoing basis (like ferguson and others) further highlights and exposes the issues within the black culture.
Ah, summer in the city. The projects are jumping already, much worse than last year. The bloodbath hasn't even begun. Perps know they are safe to carry guns now since cops can't and won't do anything about it until it is time to mop up the blood. I just hope the number of sheeple affected remains low.
That's nonsense...stop and frisk was drastically scaled back in by 2013 and murders steeply declined to only 333...then stop and frisk was completely eliminated the next year and murders still declined
I agree with those who say Stop & Frisk had minimal effect on gun crime and is a blatant disregard of civil rights. Having said that, what has happened and is DeBlasio's fault is a lack of conviction with regards to Quality of Life offences and Broken Windows. Stopping people who loiter, litter, intake alcohol/drugs publicly, jump subway turnstiles often nets people on warrants who often commit the bulk of crime in the city. Also, a stop can be constitutional if you match the description of someone having been reported to have committed a crime (Probable Cause). This is the type of basic, street level policing that should be occurring and if the mayor's office is leaning on the NYPD to be lax in this regard, then that's wrong.
Murders and shootings very, very rarely affect normal law abiding citizens and your risk becomes that much smaller if you subtract domestic situations. What I'd be more concerned about is any rise in robberies, muggings and assaults since those are often the hallmarks of a city whose environment has deteriorated.

Perps react to the times. Right now, the cop is the perp and the street hoodlums know it. You don't see what they see. You see cops driving around, you think all is normal, but the perps know that the cops don't get out of their cars any more. They know that cops don't look for "trouble" any more. They know that they have zero fear of being stopped any more. Just as when something changes in your business field and you react to it, perps do the same. Shootings didn't magically rise over the last few months. The national progressive agenda is coming home to roost.
Instead of brining S&F back, America needs to bring back math camps to reverse the steep decline in American's math/probability competence.
To equate the murder rate increase with that of one's chance of being murdered is utterly appalling for ppl with basic understanding of how to calculate probability.
Didn't our nyriterdude have an ivy education? How do you explain the difference between the two?
It is time to take math education seriously and do not let kids off the hook just because they say "I don't like math"....
My comment isn't directed at OP specifically but at the overall failing educational system that this country faces.
