I have discovered that the quality of bus travel has really jumped while the price of bus travel has plummeted. Granted, these discount bus lines don't have fancy terminals (you get picked up on a sidewalk), but the comfort and convenience is incredible. And the cost? Incredible! And of course, bus travel is just about as eco-friendly as you can get, short of walking or biking. One bus takes around 50 cars off of the road, so that emissions are lower and traffic is calmer.

For example, if you want to travel from Washington D.C. to New York City, you could pay at least $100 for a ticket, and have to get to the airport a couple of hours ahead of your flight, and you get crammed into a tiny seat with very little leg room. Or you could take a train. Again, the ticket would be at least $100, and while the seats are a little more roomy, you still will be cramped. Of course, you could always take your car, but then you would have the tension of driving in traffic, and once you get to your destination, you would have to find a place to park, and pay for that parking.

Contrast that with Washington Deluxe buses. For less than $30, you can travel from Columbus Circle, Dupont Circle or Pentagon City and wind up in Midtown Manhattan in 4 hours. While you are traveling, you will have a large, comfy seat with tons of leg room. Plus, you will have an electrical outlet right at your seat to keep your electronics charged up and free wifi so you can check email, surf the web, or enjoy movies and games on your tablet or computer.

My friend uptown Willy is the number one expert on buses in the world and he told me that:

WASHINGTON DELUXE BUSES HAS BED BUGS

on every seat

Uptown Willy knows buses. He'd never lie.

Is it true?

I switched from taking trains to buses when going to visit a cousin in Hartford, CT. The buses run much more frequently and most of them have free wifi.
