Hi everybody. I'm an italian James Dean fan. I've been several time to NY but I never found somewhere that reminded James Dean and the Big Apple, although he loved so much NY.
I've been to his apartment, in the Upper West Side, I tried to visit it but the current tenant didn't want.. in the street, nothing that remind that Jimmy lived there.
Does anyone know if New York offers something to remember her rebel son?

James Dean was not a "son" of NY. He was born in Indiana and spent most of his life there and in Los Angeles. He moved to NYC when he was 21 and he was dead at 25. He lived in NYC all of 4 years and even most of those 4 years were spent in LA. Not sure anyone even associates him with his brief life in NY.

I never have made the association. When I think of Dean, I think of dry, dusty Texas...obviously because of his excellent, if overwrought, performance in GIANT.
And then the next image is his driving 100+ mph in his Porsche in Southern CA.
Liz Sheridan, the actress who played Jerry Seinfeld's mother in "Seinfeld" was James Dean's girlfriend and fiance for awhile, but they drifted apart. She's written about her memories of those times.
So, bam - a NYC association.

I guess his being GAY might have had something to do with the drifting apart,
