I have a friend that currently lives in France that is looking to move to the States with her family. They have the funds and the resources to move. Her younger brother is 19 years old and autistic. Her main concern is finding a program/resource here in NYC for him. Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. Many thanks.

I have a couple in-laws with a couple autistic teen agers. They are to the right of Adolf Hitler politically and economically, but wow, do they belly-ache about how little extra benefits the state provides for their autistic kids.

They are the perfect conservatives: ME, ME, ME... but YOU need to pull yourself up by your bootstraps.

He'll age out at 21 from many services listed, so be advised.

Children's or Young Adult services go up to age 21. After that, look only at Adult services. A challenge might be to get him known so that professionals can help the family plan for what will be after he turns 21.

Also, help them understand that the AutismSpeaks chart includes offerings all over NY State, some in NYC, some suburbs, some as far distant as Rochester and Buffalo. Encourage them to study the map and be realistic about the geography.

Thank you.

One of them probably has aged out already or is VERY close and the other one will, within a few years..

(Parents are as rich as Croesus but they like to keep it that way.)
