Crime goes up overall when the climate heats up. More people outside, more drinking, partying and hanging out. We had the usual rise in shootings esp on the weekends and other assaults. Guess it went up less then last year or previous years. Not hard to believe. Now the weather cools off, Winter will arrive and if it's as cold as last year (Hope not) people will retreat indoors and the rate falls.

I don't necessarily believe that. City Hall could be ordering the NYPD to under report or record the status. They have done it under prior mayors and likely do it under de Blasio.

The De Blasio administration:

This summer has been the safest summer New York has seen in decades minus the RAPES, SHOOTINGS and MURDERS. Other than those little bumps in the road, which are insignificant in our opinion, we had one of the safest summers ever under our new progressive leadership. Oh, and don't worry about the increase visibility of homeless people on the streets, it's not our fault, its Giuliani's fault. Oh, and one more thing, under our progressive leadership, we have improved the relationship between police and civilians.

Now my wife Chirlane and I would like you all to enjoy the West Indian parade and please pay no mind to the stabbings and shootings as these are isolated incidents by the civilized West Indian people. Carry on everyone.

So New York is safer if we only look at categories of crime that can be manipulated, massaged or redefined out of existence.
