Mets vs Cubs for the NL Pennant. Baseball fans, read that previous sentence and try to process it.
Enjoy the crowds, 7 train riders.
A combined 136 years of futility between the both of them... Pretty crazy to think about. What's even more insane is how easily the Mets took care of the Cubs top two pitchers Lester and Arrietta... They still have Hammels but it's possible this team could be looking at a sweep... Mets have their ace DeGrom and their star rookie Matz coming up for them games 3 and 4... sizable advantage in pitching. What's remarkable about this team is how quickly they became contenders. As late as early August people had written them off and despite the early success, most simply chalked it up to an early season run... To go from that, to a potential dynasty when you think about it (young quality pitching, nice mix of experience and youth in the batting line-up)... Clutch hitters... This team can be a threat for years to come. I'm a diehard yankees fan but I'm not a Mets hater and it's nice to see them finally get some recognition. Hopefully, they don't do what they did after they won the championship in '86 when they blew up the team...
Critical games are all about max and min. Then there's also momentum. Someone like Murphy shouldn't be able to hit 4 HRs off Cy Young award caliber pitchers. It just doesn't happen for someone with his record and background. Chicago is stacked on offense and the great equalizer is outstanding pitching and high velocity.

Problem with that statement is that the Mets took the two biggest blows from what in all likelihood will be the Cy Young Winner and another stud in Lester and won both games... There's a big drop-off in pitching after they get through their top two... The Mets are legitimately 4 pitchers deep where even in the playoffs you always stand a chance of losing against either one of them... Forget about it when Wheeler comes back next year... This team is gonna be no joke...
Lets go Mets!!! I'm following every pitch and loving it. This is the most excitement in NYC sports for a long time now. Murphy has been ridiculously good. Crazy they won't be re-signing him. Right now he can do no wrong.
