If you would read closely, I did not make a statement whether I feel taking the area over by eminent domain was right or not. I said "You may be right" and then I asked you a question -- which was -- have you ever been there. All you had to do was answer, and cut the "dear Henna" crap. Geez.

Communities, through their politicians, implement community standards all the time.

One remembers the PBS Documentary 'Flag Wars', which talked about two groups at odds: the long native Black community v. the increasing, and gentrifying, gay population. Once the gay population was large enough, it successfully lobbied, for neighborhood upkeep ordinances. So, if a home/property, in East Columbus, was not kept up well (or, an 'eyesore'), then the town could not only issue fines, but evict and foreclose on the property owner's property. Those ordinances cause big-time strife between the two groups!

Having brought up that point, I know we've argued back and forth of the Willets Point issue, and understand, and appreciate, your strong views on the subject.

Well you certainly didn't need to get defensive there haha. I was being genuinely affectionate to you with that. I've liked you on this forum for a while now. And I answered your question/perspective.

Was all love. No sarcasm...

Being in the Bronx, I take the Q44 to Flushing, to catch the 7 to CitiField. When coming from the 'back way', one can get the full view. And, to be honest, the back area does look like a 'CitiDump'!

This use of eminent domain is not for a children's hospital or anything. It's for fvckimg condos and hotels.

Well the reality is that whether someone's property is an eyesore is indeed determined by governments and by courts and depending on the decisions made and the economic interest at stake will be removed. This happens all the time all over the US and is quite constitutional (it's been upheld by the Supreme Court).

My initial and ultimate comment on the matter was not the legality of eminent domain. I'm well aware that it exists and has been used and upheld in courts. My comment was simply to shake my head in disgust at those who applaud it. Particularly, when it is not being used for what it was created for (highways, hospitals, schools, etc..)
