Where to buy steel desks (New York, Mineola: apartments, live, prices)

i'm looking for a steel desk with drawers (the commercial looking ones) as I want this to last a long time. Anybody know of a place in queens or brooklyn? Budget is under $1000

Mineola on Jericho tpke there a office place that even sells used office equipment and have plenty of steel desks for way less than $1,000. Not far from Queens line in Nassau county.

I'm thinking a discarded steel desk in need of spray paint could be had for well under $100.
Try a call to Bergen Office Furniture on 26th Street or have a stroll through. I imagine haggling skills would come in handy (Do you have any Iranian friends in the rug business?)


Years ago, I looked for the same thing. I had no luck so I settled on a huge birch desk from GOTHIC MILLWORKS that I had made to my specs (a file sized drawer on each side and 5 additional drawers) and did the stain and poly myself. I have had that desk for 35 years, 3 apartments, and it will outlive me. Prices have soared since, especially for birch, but I'll bet you can get the same for under $300 and then you will have a nice piece of furniture.
