I'm wondering if you could help me with something. I am a freelance city reporter, and a photographer and I are looking to do a photo essay for the New York Times of individuals who are leaving New York City for financial reasons in the immediate future (i.e. March 1st).
We'd like to talk to (and photograph) them as they're packing things up, unable to handle the rising costs of living in this city. The idea would be to bring light to this issue by showing the human faces of un-affordability, and rapid gentrification.
So does anyone happen to know someone we'd be able to talk to? We have yet to pitch this story—just looking for those would simply be interested in talking.
