De boob is just that; a political naïf who cannot believe in having been voted into the job, and thanks numerous saints each and every morning for his good luck.

I'll say it again; the 2013 mayoral race was going to be won by *ANY* Democrat who secured the nomination. Hence you had the very large field. That Quinn woman was the party machine favourite but didn't realize the depth of feelings against her (too close to Bloomberg, closing of Saint Vincent's, etc....) and really brought about her own humiliation by Swift Boating Liu. That give de B the chance to literally come out of no where and rapidly sew up the nomination. Once that was done he was good as mayor. After two terms of Rudy G, and three of Bloomberg there was no way a Republican was going to win that election.

Having said this de Boob was quickly schooled in the realities of being mayor of NYC. He quickly backtracked from "saving" LICH. This after his arrest from a protest there put him on the mayoral running for office map. Basically let happen what he was against; the Fortis plan won out, LICH closed and the property is being redeveloped for luxury housing. Same GD thing that happened to Saint Vincent's.

By openly devoting his term to the "poor" de Boob has and is ticking people off; namely the middle class (who would be upper to wealthy anyplace else) that are being screwed by this idiot's policies.

The only thing that could help BdeB win again next year is a *VERY* weak republican candidate, someone so abhorrent to the electorate that it is Obama vs. Romney all over again. The Clinton woman wins in November and carries some honeymoon energy to her "home state" and by extension NYC. And or in part the vast immigrant and low income minority communities rise up in numbers along with everyone else staying at home as in 2013.

De Boob's problem is unlike last time he has a record to run on and or defend.

Being as all this may there still is a good chance no serious contender democrat or republican will run in 2013. BdeB is term limited out afterwards so why not keep one's powder dry until 2021 when the field is wide open? Scott Stringer wants to be mayor so bad his tongue is hanging out of his mouth. He is the guy to watch next year. He too will be term limited out if he runs and wins another comptroller race. Does he wait until 2021 to look for a new job or strike out in 2017.

That is the key; term limits are the wild card... Both next year and certainly in 2021 you are going to have plenty of NYC politicians shoved out of their current offices. If 2013 was any lesson many will play a game of musical chairs and run for something else.

I think people will vote for change, though I'm not sure who that would be at this point. A traditional Republican probably wouldn't get enough support in this city right now, unless crime really gets out of control (enter Ray Kelly!)

I would not be shocked if DeBlasio isn't even the Democratic nominee. Scott Stringer could make a push.

Something tells me Scott Stringer would be no better than DeBlasio in terms of letting NY go back to the dark ages, maybe even worse. I like Eric Adams, he's got a head on his shoulders and is former NYPD, he may be the first candidate to really bridge the gap between minority communities and maintaining law and order. Someone on here said Marty Golden could do well as a republican candidate.

Personally, I think the city GOP would do well to find another person from out in the ranks of the business world to step in. Someone like a Lloyd Blankfein or Jamie Diamond.

I always say innocent until proven guilty. I don't think he had a hand in this as much as he pulled one of those "I don't wanna know about it" acts. If your the boss and this shi* goes on your a part of it. Sorry De Blowzio, go back to park slope Mr. Whilhelm.

There is one downside to this whole thing. If the Mayor loses his spot, his successor is probably worse.

Letitia James is the Public Advocate for the City of New York, the second highest ranking elected office in the City.

Letitia James | Public Advocate for the City of New York

She is in the WFP "Working Families Party"

According to Wikipedia:
WFP follows the ideals of progressive politics,[4] describing itself as a "grass roots independent political organization".[5] Conservative writer Seth Lipsky of the New York Post describes WFP as "quasi-Marxist"[6] and some publications refer to WFP as the Tea Party of the Left.

The public advocate would only be a temporary successor until a special election is held.

People were stupid enough to vote him in - now "reap" the consequences.

Makes former mayor Bloomberg look great in comparison.

DeBlasio doesn't make Bloomberg look good. Bloomberg's results make Bloomberg look good. You don't get elected to three terms by accident.
