I am trying to figure out exactly how dumb and inexperienced with women/life you have to be to say something like this.
It is dumb. Many women and even men may have a favorite neighborhood spot to just unwind and socialize once or twice a week. The place is not a $25 martini place and not a dive with unwashed glasses but a place between. The neighborhood bar, esp older ones is an American institution that like the diner is sadly disappearing.
Most people there are just enjoying thier free time and relaxing. The world is stressful and big cities even more so. Everyone needs a refuge be it the local bar or man/woman cave at home. If they want numerous partners they can attempt to pick them up at other crowded places like the supermarket, or music and food festivals. The comment is a silly assumption.

its true. I know females who go to bars and do not drink alcohol. They order things like soda, Shirley Temple, or club soda with lime. Bars are popular places with meet up with old friends or watch a sports game. It can be hard for a lot of city dwellers to jam 10 or 20 people in a small apartment.
