If you ever walk up the westside bikepath around the 150's you must have noticed they're constructing a new pedestrian overpass to connect upper Riverside Park to Riverside Drive, over the parkway and train tracks. Sorry to say I don't carry a camera phone with me, otherwise I'd post pictures, but the last time I had passed by they had constructed a substantial bit of the western (waterside) base of the new bridge, But this weekend I passed by and I was amazed that the new construction had been razed! There's nothing but a pair of stump concrete things in the ground. Anyone know what is up with this?

Thanks for the explanation.

Perhaps they used leftover concrete from Yankee Stadium?

While most people welcome the $24 million dollar project, the state Department of Transportation confirmed there are problems with the concrete. Less than a year into construction, the contractor already has to make major repairs and pay for them.
Cracks can be seen in the concrete and exposed rebar. The new bridge was scheduled to open in December, but it is now delayed till next spring.

Good old Mafia Construction know-how at work.
