Anyone tried it lately in NYC? I'd love to WFH but unfortunately the noise level is growing intolerable from construction and noisy neighbors playing loud bass rap music. Apparently, We Work has a $29/day open desk plan where you can just show up at any location or for more (price depends) you can rent a private office or conference room. They were all the rage pre-pandemic and even considered an IPO before the closure of many office spaces doomed their shot. Now that the city is slowly reopening this may be a viable option for those of us who want to work in an office building while still retaining flexibility. Do people have any good experiences or bad ones to share? Thanks.

Newly renovated offices are nice. However, they seemed to have a real issue maintaining them. You can come in on a Monday and find no toilet paper in the bathrooms. Microwaves in the pantry stay broken for months.

I've heard similar.

WeWork isn't the only option as there are multiple other providers, some larger like Greendesk and a host of smaller ones out there. I'd say explore around for co-working spaces and see if they look good on paper first and then go visit to see how well it's run.

Another option is to take that money and see if you can invest in some ways to insulate sound and temperatures and better cooling in your apt. The cost of that over some period of time might end up being lower than the cost of going to these places.

Regus is a company I've worked with in the past for office space and they're very accommodating.

Thanks. It is hard to nail down a price with these companies b/c they want to give you a tour instead of providing prices transparently on the phone or on their web site. Almost like a car dealership. Anectdotally, I have heard price ranges of $25-30/day for use of the common area.

You made me search my emails from the last time I checked on Regus for office space in Los Angeles and at the time in 2017 it was roughly $9.64 a person per day or $289 a month.

I'm sure it's increased a lot since then but not sure it would triple in cost in 4 years.

I would call and ask them to send a proposal. Just tell them you live out of town and can't walk through the facilities.

When you say per person is there a minimum # of persons? For my case it would just be me.

At the time I was looking for just one person. I've also looked for more than one person. No minimums. They accommodate whatever your needs are.

Actually, it was an overall business fiasco, not office space, that was the problem. A lot of articles have been written about it, if you want to look into it.
