Long Island's segregation is exaggerated I think, there are several diverse towns. My town has a mix of white, black, Latino, and some Asian.

In Suffolk County, you have diverse or high/predominately Black/non White communities as well. Wheatley Heights, northern West Babylon, Deer Park, parts of North Amityville and the southern end of Greenlawn are some, among others, that come to mind. Those places mentioned could work for the OP.

According to the 2010 census, there are more Whites in Suffolk (81% compared to 73% in Nassau).

I'll throw out an area to consider, but it may be a matter of transportation for the commute getting in the way, but perhaps look into Central Nyack in the Nyack Union Free SD. A solid/good and diverse school district that has areas that are diverse and are middle class with a sizeable Black population. Nyack is a nice, walkable village with some nightlife as well. South Nyack is another part of that school district that may work for you, as well as parts of the village of Nyack. Blacks in South Nyack, a village that is about 16-17% Black, have the highest median household income of any group in the village, according to 2010-2014 census info($119,286).

More info: Census Tract 013200 in Rockland County, New York
Block groups in that census tract: Census Block Group 013200-3 in Rockland County, New York

Census Block Group 011102-3 in Rockland County, New York (according to this source, the black median household income in this block group is $147,955 using 2010-2014 cenus info)

Nyack also has its own hospital, by the way: https://www.nyackhospital.org/
This area that is partially in the Clarkstown Central SD in New City may work and it isn't too far from Nyack: Census Block Group 011405-2 in Rockland County, New York

Here is some median household income info within that SD: Clarkstown Central School District Income and Careers - USA.comâ„¢

This may help in terms of income info: New York Median Black Household Income School District Rank Based on ACS 2010-2014 data
