Clearly he had more than enough to get by financially and socially in New York - a Manhattan townhouse, kids in private school, an attractive wife. Was there something else that he could not find in the city that led him to end his own life?
Happy people are born, not made. You can make a naturally happy person unhappy usually, but making a naturally unhappy person happy ain't possible without illegal drugs, and they only work for a short while.
Didn't biggie and puffy say more money means more problems?
I thought that was Jay Z. Anyway, as corny as it sounds happiness is found internally not externally. Some people create drama no matter what station in life they are, rich or poor. And that can cause deep problems and deep unhappiness. Constantly making bad choices. Surrounding yourself with bad people (or being bad oneself). All the money in the world can't/won't erase repeatedly making unwise life choices.
I dunno, why did Robin Williams or Kurt Cobain kill themselves? Life's full of mysteries.
Or Whitney Houston. I know, I know. She was neck deep into drugs but before all that. With all that talent and fame and looks what drove her to take drugs in the first place & completely spiral downward. I know people blame Bobby Brown but I think she was messed up/wild before she met him. Some people just have something broken inside that nothing in the world can fix. Still boggles the mind though. You'd think with all that they achieved, they would be happy or at least not so messed up & miserable.

She had major depression. She had been made to work since she was a kid, and she was supporting her entire family. After awhile she basically just said fvck it. She said by the time she hit 30 she felt that her young womanhood was over, and she had done all there was to do. These are her words.
She's a person outside of her achievements, and that's probably a big part of the problem too. People just wanted to see a fake image of her as a perfect singer, but her real situation including her real family situation was a lot different from the press made image. Her father dumped her mother for the maid, and tried to sue Whitney for money so he could take care of the maid. Of course Whitney won the lawsuit.

Of course no matter what choices we make nobody lives forever.
An argument could be made do what you want, life is short, and just enjoy.

I thought all his money was put into Madoff's firm which means he is now worthless. And that is why he took his own life.
