Well, well, well.... I just received an email for this other lottery, which is at Far Rockaway. My log # is 49xx-, and I have no community preference as I am in Manhattan. This makes two lotteries in two weeks! Anyway, I'm not going to Far Rockaway - my commute will be horrendous! Plus I hear the neighbors are already complaining about the development because the city may use it to house the homeless.
This is the first housing lottery email I've ever got since I only applied for 3BR apartments and there are so few of them. Not a fan of the location either but was thinking of giving it a shot. Does anyone know what happens after the interview? Is there a second round lottery after the interview or if everything goes right, I'll be getting the apartment? Thanks!
ugh, just saw this thread. I am 4,6xx in this lottery too and in the middle band again for this one. how utterly frustrating that the city is giving preference to homeless individuals in this building for 30% of the apartments. honestly, i wouldn't want to live in a building with a homeless population that high. i guess they are no longer homeless, but i don't trust the city or any of these non profit agencies to vet them stringently enough.

Plus all the neighbors in the surrounding areas will look at us as if we're a bunch of crackheads from Cabrini Green!
I got a final warning email too, but I ignored it. Is that bad etiquette though? The management companies often handle multiple housing lottery developments. I figure they are so bogged down, the less emails they get back the better and they will just move onto the next person down the list..
Why did you apply if you already knew you weren't gonna like the commute? Waste of a log number......
Because I wanted to see what log number I'd get.
