Furious Foodies Call Brooklyn Pizza Festival The 'Fyre Festival' Of NYC Food Events: Gothamist

Wonder how many hipsters fell for this scam. Turns out the people that ran this scam also ran the African Food Festival scam and a previous Burger Festival scam too during the summer.

Lol. Why would anyone go to a "pizza festival" in NYC? Just walk around any neighborhood and make your own festival.

I don't know who's worse: The slimy scam artist promoters? Or the total tools who enable wannabe "festivals" to even exist?

You need idiots to exist in order for scam artists to exist, so there's your answer.

I don't see it as a scam as much as paying top dollar to live in the hood which is the norm. In a few years the $75 pizza will come on artsy plates made with recycled paper mache held together by organic all natural glue. Oh yeah don't forget to add a cup of fancy coffee freshly dripped out of the azz of a weird animal.

There were many folks from far away that paid for the ticket as much as $75 based on the package.

Ugh. I went to the African Food Festival, thrown by the same organizer, last year. That event was a major disappointment (although I only paid $10 for the early bird tickets). It was so poorly organized; absolutely none of the things promised were available: no celebrity chefs, only 3 or 4 food vendors (25+ were promised), people had to pay for food samples that were supposed to be included in the ticket prices... it was so bad that I knew to not attend any other events by this same organizer. In fact, this summer the same promoter had a Jollof (jollof is a west African rice dish) food festival that I was excited to attend until I learned who was throwing it.

Anyway, it's no surprise that pizza fest was a disaster. Though I'd say it could be a good idea becase there are a lot of good pizza places throughout the city but this would probably be better organized as a "pizza crawl" where you can get (hot) pizza samples from different restaurants.

OMG I feel so bad for people who paid for it and drove from far away. I saw pictures. The pizza was smaller than a palm and it was cold. I hope these people get their money back!
