What does the term "Open Bar" generally mean to New Yorkers,
1. There is a bar that serves drinks to those attending for free.
2. There is a bar where you can buy drinks.
I have seen it mean either. In one case I am pleased, in the other not so much.
Always 1. Inhave never heard the term used for 2. Maybe someone might construct a sentence as a responde to someone who is askingn if a bar is open for business, but not as a distinct term if its own.
We got an invitation to a wedding and it specifically said "cash bar".
this sounds lame
