Does it matter? Would you rather see them selling crack on the block? They are doing what they like without bothering anyone. Let them be.

The question was where do they find the money to afford NYC apartments

The answer is family support

Yes. They do. Many of them have jobs as waiters, bartenders, office temps, or other sources of income/jobs.

There's no need for you to hate on people and a lot of people on City Data need to check themselves on that matter.

Perhaps, perhaps not. Perhaps they are minimalists. Some people dont need much. Not everyone buys into mainstream materialism.

This reminds me of hippies.

You cannot afford a $2,000+ a month apartment being a waiter. Now, if you have 5 roommates then sure. Otherwise, like Blake said, mommy and daddy are paying.

As a waiter you can pay 1,000 a month for a room and you have your answer there. 5 roommates are not needed. As an office worker or a temp you can pay $1000 for a room.

You guys are such jealous, hateful, foul, vile, malicious creatures.
