Hey folks, I'm planning to visit NYC (from the UK) at some point to meet some industry friends in my work 'pizza' and do some non-predictive touring such as Brooklyn, Bronx (where I'll be staying ) - visiting Wiliamsburg, Carroll Gardens, maybe some exercise in Central Park and some time-out for some photography

I'm looking for some people to meet, hang out with, take in some bars, pizzerias, clubs, some different non-tourist stuff - not sure what I'm asking for really, maybe some links to more NYC chat-rooms, websites, similar 'travelling people' - any advice that springs to mind as you read this, feel free to pass my way, thanks in advance Richard

"Meet-Up" groups could be what you're looking for. See link.

Yelp has some good events sometimes. https://www.yelp.com/events/queens

Also, go on Facebook and search around for some groups. There are always events being suggested on FB, and if you join some special interest groups (like there might be one for people who like to eat NYC pizza, who knows) then you'll have a chance to meet people in smaller groups.

Wouldn't it be better to have your industry friends squire you around? Offer to take them to dinner or something, or coax them to let you tag along to their hang-outs.

I'm not sure how much time I'll actually be with them, as they have businesses to tend to also, so I want to pad out my few days with lots of activity around it, will deffo ask though, see if any of them are doing anything cool 'after work'
