Hello, can you help with this question.

I'm familiar to a certain degree with interview process as I have gone to them before.

My question is:

I currently live in NYCHA. I have a lease that's active with my father and my name on it that will expire in the summer of 2018. 2bd room apt. During the fall 2017, I got out of the lease and they told my father to start looking for a 1bd apt. I am presently staying here with my father in Queens. In paper it shows that I have an active lease with NYCHA though on their system is only him.

Will the developer look into NYCHA to confirm that the lease is ok? How would you go about this? would it be better to say that the lease is not good and get a notarized statement that i am staying in NYCHA temporarily?

Thank you in advance.

Either way, they will do a background check on you. So the short answer is yes. They don’t only go by what you tell them but by what’s on paper that you give them permission to look into. NYCHA will definitely be contacted.

I don’t know how I would go about it. If you stay in NYCHA temporarily (there is no such thing), your dads rent will go up and you may have to pay back rent as HUD releases your notarized statement basically saying you stayed at NYCHA for free. I wouldn’t go that route, tbh.
