Hello. Lets say I had a 35 passenger shuttle bus and I had to take people from Coney Island to City Island Bronx daily around 11:30am daily.

How long do you think it would take to get there? I was thinking I can take Belt Pkwy to 678 or maybe another route. What is the quickest route and would it take under 1 hour to get there around 11:30am? Thanks. I'm not in NYC or from NYC so I wanted to ask the locals. Thanks

You can take the Belt Parkway at that time of the day, and it usually takes between 45-50 minutes to get there since there is unlikely to be any traffic.

A bus (and your vehicle counts as a bus) cannot take any parkway at all without a permit. In fact, buses are required to use only truck routes, except that they may use local streets at the start and end of the trip in order to access the pick-up and drop-off points. It isn't as easy as you think, and you can't just take any road that seems convenient.

You might even end up with a decapitated bus if you use the wrong route!

Ugh that's not going to be fun at all. Not sure which roads in Brooklyn you'd need to take (I seem to remember driving home on the BQE, which is I-278 last time I went to Coney Island). You can stay on that to the RFK Bridge and continue with the Brucker Expressway all the way to the City Island exit.

It's very unlikely this will take less than an hour - it could sometimes but I wouldn't count on it. These are some of the most heavily traveled roads in the country. Time of day doesn't really matter. Anyone who tells you different has never been caught in a nonsensical traffic jam at 4 in the morning.

Parkway might be tricky. Gotta see if it’s allowed first!
