Hi guys! My friend who lives in Thailand has asked me to bring over some chocolate (she's a big fan!). Would you guys be able to recommend me a brand that's not typically sold in that part of the world, or maybe hard for her to come by?

If not, what's your favorite chocolate to buy in NYC?

Thanks

La Maison du Chocolat and Jacques Torres are good choices.

I would imagine all of these can be found in Thailand, even if it's more expensive.

I'll add another vote for Jacques Torres. It's NYC based so probably not likely to be found elsewhere. One thing I really enjoy is their hot chocolate. You can buy the mix (I like the spicy one) and it should be something that's easy to travel with.

I like other places more for truffles but they don't keep for more than a few days.

Whole Foods generally has a good selection of chocolates including some local producers if you want to look into that.

Li-Lac Chocolates is old school. Nothing more American than a PB&J candy, either.
