Hi, I just put down a security deposit ($500) to take a rental off the market, but I did some research and I’m starting to have second thoughts. The rental i chose is near the intersection of Cypress/Myrtle and super close to the border between Ridgewood and Bushwick. I’ve read Ridgewood is overall safe but the border between Ridgewood and Bushwick can be dangerous. Can anyone confirm this claim? Should I reconsider moving here?
To add some more background to this, my girlfriend is doing residency nearby as well and may be coming home at odd hours, so I want to make sure it would be safe for her to take the train home. Thanks in advance.
Now that Bushwick is gentrifying and trendy, all of Ridgewood is perfectly fine now. There used to be a time I'd say to avoid Lower Ridgewood by the Bushwick border, but those days are now behind us.
Ridgewood is the last authentic Brooklyn neighborhood in the city, and it's in Queens.
A Short walk from the L train (when its working) not bad at all good memories even back in the day was considered the good part of Ridgewood ( which was the whole Ridgewood )away from Bushwick.
North side of Myrtle is fine over there. South of Myrtle is still transitioning. Though if you are within 2-3 blocks of Myrtle you will be fine also. There are trendy places even 10 blocks south, but the renters are more mixed, so you will have a higher percentage of earlier tenants before the area started getting gentrified.
Ridgewood is an awesome neighborhood. We keep it real.
