In terms of dimensions, it's somewhat long an narrow, but in terms of actual usable space? Very nice, especially for NYC. You can comfortably fit quite a bit in a bedroom that size, and if you know how to arrange it, the narrowness verses the length will not be a problem at all.

Yes, 12 x 18 is a very nice size and will fit TWO full sized beds nicely.

That's huge! My studio room isn't much bigger. I mean I have a big kitchen, bathroom and hallway as well.

Doesn't matter what we think. What matters is whether it works for you.

A room needs to be able to fit 4 queen mattresses square. I seen bedrooms that have barely enough space for a queen bed and a set of shoes on the side.

The worst, some building on Isham St billed as a 2 bedroom was a lousy subdivision that seriously could not fit a twin mattres without curling up the edges and 2 could not be laid side by side, so it had to be less than 7' x 6'. I've placed people in questioning rooms b8gher than that...
