NEW YORK -- Smoking is no longer allowed in New York City public housing.

NYCHA and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene officials launched the new smoke-free policy Monday morning.

The rule prohibits smoking in any New York City public housing apartment or building or within 25 feet of the building.

The city says it wants to create a healthier environment for the 400,000 New Yorkers who live in public housing developments.

LMFAO!!! Yea right how are they going to enforce that?? Answer....they wont. They cant even fix the intercoms, keep people from pissing in the elevators, noise policy, and enforce the dog policy but they want to stop people from smoking on the premises?

The day I moved out of the PJs was one of the happiest days of my life!

Yeah right. None of that is going to happen. If anything the people will revolt and smoke more.

This is a very subtle build up to forced gentrification.
The city lays down the laws.
A paper trail of violations is created for the most offensive of tenants.
One by one these indigents are kicked the F***k out leaving behind
the most humblest and law abiding of tenants.

It's a wait and see game.
It's is not going to happen over night.
Gentrification will happen.

Smoking in the PJ's is just as bad as having pets! It's an safety/health/environmental issue! That smoke gets through the vents and into other apartments/parts of the building! Plenty of children have asthma, allergies, etc in the PJ's!

Enforcement is another issue!

You think this **** just happens in the PJ...No it happened everywhere. I live in a smoke free building and people smoke weed and cigs all the time. My neighbors man always smokes weed and its the skunk kind. Its annoying as **** and sets my asthma off... they won't be going around busting people for smoking.
