Sunday felt uncomfortable because of the high wind. Sure, there are winter days that certainly get much colder, but the intense wind was a bit unusual and brought the real feel down to 31.

You are right Henna. We set out for a long walk Sunday morning and the North wind hit with a surprise. The walk got truncated to First Avenue and a wasted visit to the Farmers' Market (tomatoes gone) so we settled on the Prime Gourmet Market (92nd and First) for cheap eggs ($1.09) and a quart of strawberries ($.99) and a quick walk back home and some warming Manhattans.

No more spring and fall, straight from summer to winter to summer

One day no more winters either, half the globe will be dead of heat exhaustion

I agree that it seems a bit colder than your average NY fall - I was at Orchard Beach yesterday for the Making Strides walk and it was freezing, even with several layers of tee shirts under a hooded sweatshirt. I had to buy a non-down winter coat last week because of how quickly it got chilly - my fall coat was no longer cutting it and the one I wore last year no longer fits (in a good way! Too big).

I've already put the extra blanket on my bed, and started using my heated mattress pad. This feels more like November weather to me. October should be hoodies and long sleeve shirts.

It is 43 right now on the UES going up to 52...a nice day.

Tomorrow it is expected to go to 59 degrees, which is perfect because we are booked for a Spirit Cruise (nice buffet.)
I wore my Canada Goose wind breaker and was glad for it. Yesterday I went to Battery Park City for a meeting. I told the person I was going to see that just two weeks ago, he was wearing shorts and we both laughed because it was incredibly windy over there. I think the real issue is that it was warm for so long then abruptly the weather changed.

I agree it kind of went from 70s to 40s this year. I went straight from a t shirt to a coat with maybe 2 days of hoodie weather in between.

I just put on my collared sweater using my vest and gloves I bought at Lawson in Nakano, Tokyo. Others are bringing out their beautiful jackets and the like. When it's 50+, I'm in a t+shirt. I love this weather! It feels like fall weather to me, but I grew up somewhere colder (I think). Air here is cleaner, no bronchitis like when I was growing up. Ah~
