OMG this is so timely. I just had to ask my dentist in Queens for a new retainer and he quoted me $500!!! I think your UES doctor is a steal compared to mine.
I bought this thing from Amazon where I can make my own mold, send it to them, they send back a retainer to me, and it's the same damn thing as the one from my dentist. Google it, I forgot the name and can't find it now. I think it was like $149.
I didn't realize that. One of my kids got braces there a few years ago and needs a new retainer but would need to wait months for an appt because they say they consider you a new patient after a certain amount of time. I'm not sure what to do yet either.
Call the CUNY City Tech dental clinic in Brooklyn, and ask if they do retainers. I don't know if they do - I suppose it would be an orthodontia clinic - but it would likely be your cheapest option.
NYU dental is one of the lower levels of Dante's Hades.
Suppose if someone has no other options, but otherwise I'd stay away.
Simple things that require one or maybe to visits at normal dentist are stretched out over several appointments (and weeks or months) at NYU.
NYU was worth it for braces in my opinion. It saved a few thousand dollars and my son's teeth turned out great. Probably depends on the student assigned though.
They’re $150 at my dentist - Core Smiles - in midtown. These guys are great!
