I previously posted a question about "MovingManInc." the New York City Agent for Wheaton. Now, I'd like to know if anyone has had an experience using, "Charles Wood & Sons", the local agent for "PaulArpin Van Lines" in NYC. My friend and I are getting closer to choosing a mover. Both companies seem helpful and thorough. We're waiting to see the quote from "Charles Wood. . ." Here's an interesting contrast between the two companies. "MovingManInc." told me that their truck could not park in front of my building, which has a bus stop there. It's true that I live in a busy commercial area. However, it seems that they would have to park the truck (a shuttle truck taking my stuff to storage), around the block. This just seems crazy! Although, I was told that I wouldn't be charged for the difficult conditions of my move. The move will take longer this way, obviously. I already live in a walkup building. The "Charles Wood & Sons" person said that he would park the truck a little beyond the bus stop. At the most, he expects he would get one $65. ticket, if that. He wasn't concerned about the police having a problem with a moving truck parked there for maybe 5 hours. I prefer this scenerio, obviously. Does anyone have a thought on this. Why was the other company so concerned about getting a ticket? Thanks!
This was moved from the Portland forum to the Education forum. No responses. I am going to move this to the NYC forum and see if there are any bites. Good Luck!
I used Charles Wood & Sons for my move to SC. They were very professional, timely and careful with our boxes & furniture. I would definitely recommend them. Their estimate was lower than what the actual bill came to, but I think we had more items moved than we first told them when they came for the estimate.
