Now that legalizing marijuana fell in NY, do we have to wait until next year for a vote or is there another chance sometime this year again?

Even Chipotle is going to make weed bowls an option. It is going to get super annoying. Weed will be an open option in Burger King and Dairy Queen. I am telling you eventually you will rather just drink beer or smoke cigarettes because it is not so annoying. I am originally from Denver and I left over a decade ago and it was like every person I'd ever grow up with there was involved in weed in some way or another. To a wild extent. It was awfully annoying. No I understand how people think weed is cool or safe or something but when annoying people take on pot like it is mainstream it is going to be annoying.

If Cuomo was actually in favor of this, he would have made it happen

No. What you should do is to vote for the same Democrat politicians that blocked the legislation. If that doesn't work, vote for them again! Why? Because Trump! #resist

My guess is that they couldn't agree how nanny statish the bill should be.

Key to blocking the bill was the unity of the six Democratic senators from Long Island. So if you live in Long Island you now know who to express your displeasure too. When they are up for re-election, you know what to do.

IIRC those democrat senators from LI are for most part freshmen swept into power in the last "progressive/democrat" election. They voted in favor of congestion pricing which his hugely unpopular in their districts. That action is sure to be used as a club by local LI GOP to beat them over heads with come re-election time. While NYC is a lost cause parts of LI, Westchester and much of upstate are still ripe for republicans to win elections. In this instance those LI senators simply voted their district to save their own skins.

Short story is no, if any governor believes something needs doing (and that it has the votes) he can call the senate and assembly back to Albany.

That being said unless or until those holdout senators from Albany change their minds, don't see much of a chance of above happening.

As have said liberal democrats have shoved through a long list of wet dream legislation, now everyone is heading back home to their districts for either victory laps, or to ponder their next moves.

Who were these six Democratic senators? There's Brooks, Kaplan, Persaud, and Martinez, but who are the other two? It's not all the Long Island Six as Kevin Thomas campaigned on it and has stated support. Also, did any Republican senators come out in support of the bill?

This isn't over, not by a long shot.

As have stated already several times this is still early innings. Liberal democrats still have three more years to run down the clock. If you believe their press they will remain in power permanently as the GOP is "dead" in NYS....

In any event look for this hot mess to be taken up yet again soon as state legislature returns next term. They only need one or two more votes.....
