Don't know if you ever read The Alienist, by Caleb Carr. Popular bestseller in the 1990s about the search for a serial killer of young boy prostitutes operating in 1896 Manhattan.

The murder mystery is being investigated by the "Alientist" (pre-Freudian version of a psychiatrist), a young New York Times reporter (the story is not considered acceptable for printing in the Times) and a young woman who wants to be a police officer but instead works as a clerk for the police department because that is the only option open to her.

It's a good tale. And they have lunch at Delmonico's.
lol... Ok so now Delmonico's is on my list too... I heard about that place on TV believe it or not. Peaked my interest... I don't think it'll be 5 stars... Probably more like 4 stars, but it looked cozy enough to want to try it out. I'm very intrigued by kosher food. Some of it is very good, especially the pastries. I can understand why some people eat kosher are so fat.

Idk if Katz’s is kosher but as far as Jewish deli’s, Katz’s is the goat. Many praise their pastrami and even I do, but their turkey (gasp) is amazing. although I’ve never gotten one, I hear their Philly cheesesteaks are good too

I haven’t been to 2nd ave deli in a long time but they too for those who haven’t gone are good as well

Last year for Thanksgiving I had guests that only eat kosher. We found that the Ben's Deli in Bayside had a complete kosher Thanksgiving dinner. But we ended up getting a takeout of a complete kosher Thanksgiving dinner from Cho-Sen Restaurant (the Forest Hills location)which although is Chinese had American style kosher turkey special for Thanksgiving that came with Chinese style side dishes.

A great kosher sushi restaurant in Forest Hills is Mikihana Sushi. For kosher Israeli food, Rego Pita (in Rego Park) is decent. (It is located not far from where the former Ben's Best Deli used to be.)

As for kosher delis I know there are still quite a few out in Long Island.

Ben's Deli in Bayside

Is that any relationship to Ben's Best, now defunct, on Queens Boulevard in Rego Park?

I am Jonesing for a good hot pastrami sandwich about3 inches thick.

I don't much care for the Ben's on 38th St. in Manhattan.

I'm always intrigued by those "fusion" kosher places that make sushi and a host of other things and manage to keep kosher. I could never eat kosher regularly. No shell fish....

How about a shrimp sashimi drenched in whipped cream? Kosher?

LMAO Good question.... I will ask the kosher experts. I just know that I have had some yummy kosher dishes, but no shellfish is like torture. I believe things like squid are also a no-go.

Russ and Daughters. One at the Jewish Museum (you can eat without paying admission), and one on Orchard and one in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Delicious!

It does NOT keep kosher, but it serves Jewish staples.
