Just WTF does someone have to do these days to be put away or at least held pending bail?

This eegit ran over a mother pushing a baby in stroller resulting injuries killed the toddler, and Jamie Sabogal skips out of court and heads home until his next court date.

Terrible tragedy for the family! It was an accident that should not have happened. People with suspended licenses should not be driving!

Only positive is now it is easier for parents to kill perps like this themselves. That’s 100% what I would do in this situation.

As a pedestrian (or a parent in this case) you should anticipate drivers not yielding even if you have the right of way. The driver is completely at fault but the kid is still dead.

Nothing can be done to bring back the kid. This is simply sad.

Unfortunately I can't give you any more reps. If someone was responsible for the death of my kid I'd probably end that person's life. I'm not a rational person when it comes to my kids. The driver should be 6 feet under.

The unlicensed truck driver who hit and killed a 3-year-old boy in Harlem last year, and then blamed the child’s death on the boy’s mother, didn’t even bother to show up to court on Monday — prompting the judge to issue a warrant for his arrest.

Trucker Jaime Sabogal, 59, who fatally struck little Bertin DeJesus on Dec. 9, 2019, when he made a left turn onto First Avenue from East 116th Street, striking the toddler as he crossed the street a stride ahead of his mother, was due in court on Monday morning. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office had announced that it was upgrading his initial low-level charges of failure to yield and aggravated unlicensed operation — minor infractions that come with a fine and, at most, 30 days behind bars.

But neither Sabogal nor his defense attorneys from the Legal Aid Society showed up for the arraignment — even after months of attempts to reach them, the judge said in court.

A driver who plowed into a mother and her 3-year-old son in Manhattan — instantly killing the tot — has been indicted on manslaughter and homicide raps, officials announced Wednesday.

Jaime Sabogal, 61, was driving with a suspended license when he was behind the wheel of a Ford F-250 and made a sharp left turn into an East Harlem crosswalk, striking and killing Bertin DeJesus, who was in a stroller.

“Not only was the defendant driving recklessly with no regard for pedestrians, but he did so knowing his driver’s license had been suspended,” said DA Cyrus Vance Jr. in a statement.

And two years later .... nothing can be found

In this country, you don’t suspend the license and hunk people wot drive. There is still work to get to, kids to raise, errands to run. Suspension never works.

No defending the driver, just stating the obvious facts. Meanwhile you have people coming here illegally getting a fresh license. Anyone of them they could be a serial killer, rapists, pedophile, 25 dwi in past. Zero back ground checks and fresh licenses.
Suspending someone’s license here who broke a few rules is pointless.
