Last night I had to take my Father to the ER in the Bronx. What a shame it was. Felt third world...

Firstly, every bed was taken. Then they rolled up even more full beds in front of those. Then they rolled up even more full beds in front of those (No joke that they had triple parked beds in some areas of the ER).

Then after squeezing by all of these poor people in need of emergency care, I make my way to the restroom. On my way there I see even more patients in both Beds and CHAIRS! Doctors and nurses are literally in hallways and next to laundry rooms trying to take care of patients!

Now add on to that the druggies and thugs acting up because they've "been there for hours and ain't no one take care of the". Several fights with Security. The whole 9 yards, and this is on a random Monday night.

The couple next to my Pop had been in the ER for THREE DAYS! You hear that? THREE Effing days!

The nurses and doctors, as hard as they are trying, just look worn out and stressed.

The doctor finally saw my father 7 hours later and advised him to stay overnight. Fine, how long before he gets a room upstairs? Doctor looked at me like I had three heads and said "Room? Sorry we don't have space like that available anywhere in the Bronx" and walked away. When I was a kid, whenever a family member had to stay overnight they got a room... not anymore apparently.

My father had to sleep overnight in an ER cot while my elderly Mom (Who wouldn't leave his side) sat up in a chair next to him all night.

I stayed as long as i could for them but eventually went home for a 3 hour nap and returned later.

It made me realize, this city WELCOMES everyone with open arms. Sanctuary city and all that jazz. Whatever.

But They NEVER made provisions for the amount of people who have moved here over the last, what, 10-15 years? The ER's are still the same size. The Schools are still the same size, the streets are getting smaller, no apartments available. I've never seen it this bad and last night was an eye opener.

How long is this even possible for?

Sorry for the long rant but i'm tired, upset and depressed.

What happened to my city?

Next time there is a medical emergency, sadly as long as I or my family member can make it, we are going up to northern Westchester or maybe even Connecticut.

Looks like its been brewing for years at good ol' Montefiore (Where we were)

Overcrowding at Montefiore is a bitter pill to swallow for nurses and patients

Nobody seems to care.

Remember this next time someone tries to say that people should retire in NYC due to the fantastic medical care.

Been to many hospitals over various reasons for friends and family.

Haven't found one that I wouldn't mind going back to.

Also thank Obamacare for starving the healthcare industry.

It's absolutely horrifying.

In one hospital, they triage people in the waiting room. Out in the open. People with IVs sitting in chairs. The poor lady next to me felt suicidal and had to tell her story in front of everyone. Disgusting.

Keep voting democrat. This place is turning into California. The city is for the stupid rich and stupid poor. It's not for people like you, it's not for people like me, it's not people like us. Having said that, I've been extremely impressed with nyu over the years.

10 years ago I was hearing stories of 8 hour waits at Jacobi.

The hospital nearest to me closed a few years ago. I was pissed because I've lived within walking distance of a hospital my whole life and now I don't anymore.

NYC still has some fantastic hospitals though.

They made provisions, just not in that neighborhood. Try an ER below 96th st in Manhattan, it might take you an extra 45 min to get there and an Uber but you will have a bed and be seen well before 7 hours.
