I was thinking that. But they have set up cameras at all of the turnstyles in many stations that would be perfect for facial recognition.

Its not all sex offenders. Just repeat and high-risk sex offenders.

We'll see what they consider to be "high-risk" sex offenders when and if this actually gets implemented.

While I can see the reason for this plan, this is another example of government gone wrong. How are people supposed to make a living upon release if they can't use public transportation to get to and from work.

If the argument is that someone is so dangerous that they can't be trusted on the subway, then keep them locked the hell up and throw away the key.

As for enforcement, it wouldn't be that difficult. Given that sex offender registries are public and that everyone and their mommas have a smart phone, I can see the policy being effective, even if I don't agree with it.

Why doesn't he just keep them in jail instead of allowing no bail release in his new law?

Good luck trying to say with a straight face that this is remotely constitutional.

This announcement is to prepare the public for more attacks as many sex offenders are being released. It makes sense.

Then how are they supposed to use the Mets tickets DeBlasio gives them upon their no-bail release from jail? Maybe he'll also give them vouchers for Uber. Nothing's too good for our criminals!!

This should be struck down because it will likely have a disparate impact on men.

Worst idea Cuomo has ever had. He is trying to transfer blame for a rotten, poorly run MTA system to its riders.

Perhaps we could all spit on a sensor for a DNA scan? Or perhaps we could all have a needle prick to ride the subway? AN MRI or PET scan to determine brain function?
They can all provide instant recognition. Of course we would all welcome an immense fair hike to pay for this nonsense, right?

Take your choice: An ex-con guilty of exposing himself, and thereby getting in essense a lifetime sentence, who rubs against your ass on a crowded subway or an ex-con, with no restraints after serving his time for manslaughter sticking a knife into your back.

I doubt we will ever hear the governor mention this stupid subject again.

Next he needs to ban muggers and rapists from the parks, and gangs, drug dealers and bullies from the schools, and then most of our crime problems will be solved. Because we all know that pervs, muggers, rapists, gangs, drug dealers and bullies become angels when you remove them from their preferred "workplace" and they enter the general population.
