I don’t know about men and women with no kids or non-pregnant but in NY illegal immigrants who are pregnant women or women with children definitely can get Medicaid. My mom owned a hair salon and two women who worked there were on food stamps and Medicaid among whatever else they qualified for. One even had her 3rd child, still here as an illegal immigrant and there was no way she paid a hospital on her nail tech salary. She had government assistance.
Not exactly what it says. Pregnant illegal immigrants can get medicaid "for emergency services "... And think about it, the child is about to be a US citizen, you can pay for their emergency Medicaid now during gestation or pay for it for the rest of their lives if there's a problem that goes undiagnosed
The rest of it does not say that illegal immigrants can get Medicaid. It says it won't impact an adjustment of status applications (though now, it probably will).
Even if your mother's cousins brothers plumber says otherwise.
After a battle that went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, the Trump administration put the so-called public charge rule into effect Monday. It allows the government to deny legal permanent residency to many immigrants who have received public benefits.
Critics say it's a wealth test aimed at weeding out those who rely on federal assistance.
Funny, considering that Trump's own great-grandparents supposedly had no money when they arrived in America.

No good in keeping those immigrants that cannot support themselves and rely on tax payers. If you want to come here, you need to offer something. Politicians who need votes can use these people dependency on welfare to ensure their complacency.
The law doesn't make the distinction between legal and illegal. There are many legal immigrants who aren't yet permanent residents for.whom this could affect
Illegal immigrants: someone who is present in the United states without explicit permission or status granted by the United states citizenship and immigration services.
Legal non immigrant: someone who is present in the united states with the explicit permission of the United States Immigration and services or a United states embassy or consulate abroad. These people may have been granted a Visa (work or visitor) , parole to enter the u.s or refugee or Asylee status.
The public charge rule DOES NOT AFFECT someone who is in the U.S as a refugee or asylee or victim of trafficking.
Someone who is in the u.s on a work visa doesn't have to worry about this public charge as their employer is required to prove that they will pay them prevailing wages to even get a petition approved to bring them here.
These working individuals are usually adequately/high compensated and extremely, rarely avail themselves of govt benefits as this may jeopardize their employment and employers status to continue importing top talent.
This public charge rule is primarily focused on illegal immigrants who are here and using resources that they shouldn't have been.
I know you are an advocate for the down trodden. But stop disseminating bad info.

They also didn't take any taxpayer money, because those programs didn't exists at the time. Everyone who came here had to work or start their own business.

Just to be clear; SCOTUS action only lifted various lower court stays of this rule, nothing has been decided on merits.
Thus now various lawsuits will have to make their way through federal courts challenging DT's administration's interpretation of statues that allowed them to create this new rule.
In other words it ain't over until it's over.
