Awww...I like it! (except for the exposed bricks, I don't like them because I'm thinking insects or ants for some reason). But perhaps a bit too steep for nearly 2 mil and the monthly maintenance of nearly 3k!
But...I don't know. If it was cheaper... and I had extra money to burn... It's so...quaint! I like it. Maybe for the whimsy of it all. Can't believe such a place exists in the middle of Manhattan no less.
An individualistic/eccentric person, who may or may not be a celebrity. That is the description of a large subset of people who are, eg, British (and thus disposed to like this architecture anyway). I could totally see Noel Fielding buying it :-).
.. or Mr Bean...
I agree with nightcrawler about the rad on the ceiling, not the most efficient use of hydronic heating.
Also, the write up from the agency calls this a "petite brownstone". Lol
Yes, it's quaint but not for this kind of money (and the monthly fee). Clearly I do not have this kind of money but if I did, I would choose something different. Many issues have already been pointed out in previous posts. What's the point of having a townhouse if there is no private outdoor space at all, not even a deck? No central AC? No walk-in closet? Shared bathroom? I also don't like having almost every room on a different floor. So if you want to enjoy a cup of tea in the living room, you have to walk up and down the stairs? And to do laundry, you drag the laundry basket two floors down from the bedroom? But I'm sure it will go quickly because of its uniqueness. We will read about it in NY Times real estate section. The husband just started his own hand sanitizer business and the wife is a yoga teacher. Or something.
Yeah. On top of the 1.9 mil purchase price. It's a rip off but if I was an eccentric millionaire...
I'd rather have this than a gaudy, tacky, penthouse (seen plenty of those) or an ugly McMansion.
What would the property tax usually be on a $2MM house in NYC? I have no idea.
If you have to ask, you can't afford it!
