Impossible that schools will open up in NYC this Fall. If they did the first person to get sick would sue and the lawsuits would be massive . California State University already canceled Fall semester.

Hilarious how parents can't pawn their children off to taxpayer funded daycare anymore. No more maids, butlers, coaches, piano lesson etc. Lots of wrong in our society when mother's can't afford to and more importantly don't want to raise their kids. Looks like their sex and the city "i'm a strong woman" featuring beyonce phase is coming to a close. Subcontracting is done away with.

That may be the case for some, but for most it's because our society has become structured towards two income households.

My wife and I life well within our means, to the point where people think I'm nuts for rarely buying clothes, accessories, small luxuries etc. Still, we could only barely get by nowadays on my salary alone and I make a pretty damned good living.

This is just the nature of NYC. I'd much prefer her to be home taking care of the kids.

For what it is worth, California's university system being closed doesn't mean jack in regards to NYC's schools. DeBlasio was very reluctant to close them even when this was at its peak. They will reopen in September unless the polls show Trump ahead of Biden.

They've been saying all along that the reopening of stores will coincide with the schools reopening. One can't reopen without the other. If the schools don't open in Sept neither will the stores ...oh, no...

I'm in agreement. No way schools can open up in falls might as well just reopen school for 2021/2022 school year.

Whether people like it or not, Trump is going to win.
Politicians need to stop using coronavirus for their own political game. It really shows just how little they care about the people they're supposed to be serving.

The state should pass a law banning such lawsuits.

Seems like the dimwits we have running our city and state just look at California and copy/paste whatever is going on there. Other than screaming orange man bad these clowns still don't have a plan.

Yes, why don't we create a society that is as tough for parents as possible? I hear a lot of similar complaints from people who don't have children and never plan to. Why should my tax dollars pay for someone else's kid? Do you not realize children are the future of everyone? But sure, let's get US society into a low fertility rapidly aging death spiral where the population shrinks every year. That will do wonders for our economy. Just look at Japan.
