Its all a money-making scheme, and you know the State would be turning a nice profit on these plates. Legalized fraud. We know that new plates weren't needed as current EZ pass locations read regular plates just fine.

The plates will come with a $25 fee — on top of the registration renewal cost — and there will be an additional $20 fee to keep the same plate number.

The lifespan of the old plates did not come to an end. Cuomo just wants another forced revenue stream. Note, Patterson pushed for the forced replacement a decade ago as a way to raise $100+ million in revenue.

Quite frankly, its the deception that is so disgusting. I'd have more respect for this extortion effort if Cuomo and his cronies came out and were honest about the real reason this is being pushed.

The DMV would not say how many plates it had recalled in all. But state Sen. Jim Tedisco (R-Glenville) said 15,500 plates had been recalled just from his district, which includes Saratoga, Fulton, Herkimer and Rensselaer counties.

State officials said the recalled plates will be stockpiled for later use, not thrown away.

Maybe these wasteful idiots should recycle them instead of blowing our money
