Tax and spend is all the Democrats know, and de Blasio is no different. Inept and useless.
There aren't enough letters in alphabet for all the new offices and positions Bdeb has created over past seven years. Guy has plowed through money like a drunken sailor on shore leave; including that $8 million he gave the Missus that no one still knows that went.

Free this, free that, half priced this, etc... A new agency here; new commissioner there; all positions that come with fully staffed departments including pensioned appointees and employees.

All on point, and the missus blew $850,000,000 on her mental health initiative called "Thrive" that apparently had no measurable benefit whatsoever and nobody seems to know where the money went.

Then you have his office's policy to not fight any lawsuit against the city. Anyone who sues the NYPD or any city agency for anything at all is getting settled early for good money. A complete gut job of the Giuliani era, frivolous scam artists have been going to town

Meanwhile .. Yes their tax ( where billions) goes to Federal coffers... Yes, gets pittance back unlike Red States gets beyond their payments into Federal coffers.

This is NOT new.. however.. DJT and his latest Tax relief to top level types who benefited with reducing ability of certain States to allow deductions etc etc... ~~

Blains like above Poster who suggests BLAME on hardest HIT State/Cities on East Coast as somehow "Taker's" is RE_DIC-ulous~~

Costs incurred because of Federal deferral to forcing "States" for do the work and PAY costs for that work.. and refuses to use Federal levers to assist.. not to mention wasting months and NOT alerting any STATE of threats... pretty well has been exposed now! Leadership failed and dismissed threat.. and refused to do a thing about it. Deflected any and all responsibility ~~ only exposes Leadership's FALSE notion.. Self ingratiating is ALL DJT wants.. This notion is a far cry from how the OP somehow deflects to blame Majors/Governors that don't ki$$ A$$ to their Cult Leader!

De Blasio is certainly not perfect.. however, at least he is trying to keep people safe.. DJT and his minority Cultish followers don't give a darn about anybody .. It's become CLEAR.. and I fear for my American friends and relatives of my Canadian friends who live in this confusion in this Heath Threat to ALL living with such incompetent Leadership from the TOP (aka POTUS) !

The federal ratio of revenue vs spending is insane for NYS and much of the rest of the high contribution, low federal spending ratio which is all of the Tri-State Area. It’s not just a bad ratio, but also that an even slightly more equitable spending ratio directed at parts of upstate NYS that have had a difficult time could have lead to a turnaround that would have helped state coffers and meant that state revenue and spending ratios also wouldn’t have to be so detrimental to downstate NY. It’s bonkers and the elimination of the imperfect kludge of SALT deductions without a viable other alternative to smooth out the massive difference is stupid and detrimental not just for these states, but the US as a whole.

However, that’s still removed from the overspending issues that this city has had under this administration which has very obviously and evidently upped its spending with limited results. The city should get more spending on both the federal and state level given just its massive tax contributions, but the city administration has no way to fix that independently and must know that it has those constraints and spend accordingly and efficiently which is not what the city under this administration has done.

Like I’ve said before, NYC has had the misfortune of being under the rule of three different ****ty NYC-born politicians at three different levels and all three bad in their own ways and collectively awful in tandem.

That's a ridiculous statement that De Blasio has kept anyone safe. He was telling everyone at the beginning to go out and party have fun. He stated a month in that he had no idea it could spread asymptomatically. The guy had daily press conferences refusing to ever close the schools until Cuomo closed them for him.

The Federal government needs to support the New York State government. At the city level, De Blasio is 9 billion short but HE increased the budget by $20 BILLION for pork projects and hiring all his friends and their families. He only has to cut half that and the city is good on the budget

The city needs to offload a 100,000 - 150,000 unnecessary workers.

There are plenty of incompetent mayors around the country, but none will have affected so many negatively

Because one part of a common sense approach is an across the board paycut to all city employees
Sorry, IMO Fernando Wood is the worst mayor NYC has had.

John Hoffman's up there too just off his association with Boss Tweed.

BdeB could start by cutting down on some of the high living of his staffers....

New York City (114,045) – Only in New York can school janitors out-earn the principals. We found 40 “custodial engineers” who earned between $154,000 and $256,000, while 57 principals made less than $154,000.

"In 2019, the city spent its entire income tax collection (and more) on its six-figure salaried workforce ($14.5 billion). Costs included $1.8 billion on overtime – which allowed 36 plumbers to make between $200,000 and $285,000.

Mayor Bill de Blasio paid 184 staffers in his office $100,000+. High earners included first deputy Dean Fuleihan ($282,659); a press officer Wiley Norvell ($184,050) and even the chef at Gracie Mansion ($123,537)."
