Also worth noting department stores in general are not doing well unless they aim wide and cater to the price conscious consumer. Target being an example; groceries, household supplies, and apparel all under one affordable roof.

Years ago before the wide availability of credit cards, big department stores had customer charge accounts with generous credit. You ran up charges and the store sent out monthly statements including interest. Now spendthrifts can run up big debt at various stores and internet merchants with multiple credit cards.
