Even the 22,000 planned layoffs will leave the city with 9,000 more workers than when de Blasio took office.

And the kicker? I'm hearing through the grapevine that the layoffs will focus on the most vital people - EMTs, firefighters, etc. Not the back-office admin types. Why? For visibility. So DeBlasio can be dramatic about how much trouble the city is in, without having to fire his wife or any other buddies he's found jobs for. Thank you, first responders, now here's your pink slip. This is all rumors at this point, but I guess we'll know soon enough - layoff letters are supposed to go out September 1st.

Can't wait to kick this piece of garbage to the curb.

Again,

Even the 22,000 planned layoffs will leave the city with 9,000 more workers than when de Blasio took office.

The layoff count should start at 100K. The city payroll has been unnecessarily bloated for decades.

One of the saddest facts about BdB is he actually opposes automating work or making it more efficient

It surprising fact that the Post reported. I sympathize with people being laid off but it shows that these 22,000 might not be as essential as thought but I'm not sure about it
