Would you want to live in a city/town that has not changed in 100 or 50 years? Everything changes.
Everything changes, but does it necessarily and always change for the best? I know the best is relative, but if we talk architecture, let me prefer these old stone and brick buildings with a soul over these cold and ugly pencil towers or so called luxury condos.
Your analogy is akin to:
I don't run into many people who prefer the best of one world with the worst of another. Seriously? Be intellectually honest.
I can make a similarly dishonest analogy.
I don't know many people who prefer aging cul-de-sacs with the nearest Walmart (the only store) about 15 miles away, the nearest hospital 25 miles away compared to people who want to live in beautiful towers, with every amenity one can imagine, footsteps from art galleries, the finest restaurants and theater in an area where intellectual conversation of all topics can be had within arms length.
Response: Opinion
Dishonest ?
For sharing my experiences and my opinion?
If you enjoy your world of brick and mortar then ....well.....enjoy it.
I come from generations of farmers who enjoy gifts from God as
compared to gifts from man..............

You mean you advocate paying skilled craftsman, who make great money rather than building at the cheapest cost possible?

Best wishes.
Comparing the worst vs the best on two different things and trying to compare them is intellectual dishonesty.

You're wrong.
Not in denying per se that "mountains beat city," as that's an opinion, but that in your city-centric worldview, it's 100% truth that "city beats mountain".
He's 110% right: both are opinions.
None of the NYC-aspects you mentioned make it "better" than anywhere else, absent the opinion of people. Millions of people could not care less about the things you listed, even people living here.
Try as you might to push otherwise, it's not because they're stupid. It's because your view is just that, another opinion. Which along with a hole in the backside, everybody has.
