So what I got from a similar article is that MTA will get funding so no layoffs/massive service cuts. This is a relief but expected. Covid relief too...expected. No funds for the state. Again...that ****** Pelosi. She should have let that 1.8 trillion pass. I'm still grateful for anything but still.

As for the state, curious to see how massive layoffs will be avoided. Could we legit see this play out in real life even if for a couple of months? Even if they come up with a bill, how long will it take for them to get one through and then actually implement it? I just don't see how it won't be avoided.

The Federal Government is reaching out to help New Yorkers.
$9 billion in direct cash payments to state residents
$600 for individuals earning up to $75,000,
$1,200 for couples making less than $150,000 and an additional $600 per child
$260 million in FEMA funeral assistance funding for state residents
$251 million in emergency rental assistance for New York City in addition to the
extension of the federal eviction moratorium until Jan. 31, 2021
$465 million in Child Care Development Block Grants for the state
More than $20 billion from Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program
for the state
, with New York getting the lion’s share

Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo criticized the plan for not including funding
to help state and local governments close massive budget deficits caused by the corona virus pandemic.

There you have it.
Feds give New Yorkers a helping hand
and instead of a gracious thank you
have a Mayor and Governor upset for 0$ state funding for massive
budget deficit they created by shuttering down the entire city..............

I never look a gift horse in the mouth....
Thank you President Donald Trump / Federal Government
for signing bill and helping the residents of New York.
All we have to do is hang on to our hats cause Angry Andy and Bad boy Billy are gonna make darn sure we'll
be paying this all back through our teeth some time down the road........................

Exactly. New York and the rest of the country are being helped by the federal government. That the city and state governments aren't getting more to help plug their deficits doesn't change this point. And good on Leader McConnell for holding the line on that front.

What is that $600 for. WhT are people are supposed to do with that ? Christmas presents ? Pay for mortgage in India ?

Extra unemployment is real help. But that $600 is just hilarious.

As for governors being mad, shut down economy, enjoy the juicy deficits.

These bills are nothing more than a giant kick of the can down the road. Small bandaid on a lethal headshot.

here's the thing...

nobody got what they wanted in this package. the $900B is more than what the GOP wanted, and less than what the Dems wanted

the aid to state and local governments is coming, they're waiting until Biden comes in, to pass something more sweeping

if dems win the senate seats in georgia... those thanking trump for a paltry $600 right now, will seethe and go into cardiac arrest, when the next bill is passed

Sorry but that would have meant accepting corporate liability shields and that's just a non-starter.

I don't care. At this point I will take everything I can from the government. I've always been a hard working individual and took care of myself and my business. But the politicians have f-ed me over in the last year so damn straight I will take everything I can get from them.
