As NYC continues to struggle financially during the Covid economy, look for more foolishness like this.
Note, especially with apps like WAZE out there that tell you where all of the speed cameras are, I don't inherently have a problem with this plan. The problem I have with this plan is that it seems to be nothing more than a money-making trap. I want to see data that supports increasing specific speed cameras to 24/7. Citing generally that 3/4 of traffic deaths occur at locations and times with no automated cameras doesn't cut it. There is a speed camera near one of the schools in Prospect Heights. While I can always support slower speeds especially during school hours (though speed humps probably work better for that), I am tracking zero traffic fatalities on this block.

Well done. You nailed it....................
I fear a horrible time that will soon fall on the shoulders of all New York Residents.
Buying at the top of the all time market in jersey of all places. Surely a joke?
Honesty NYC has gotten so awful over the past few years I can't blame him. Most of Jersey would be a big improvement except for the parts closest to NYC or Camden. New Jersey has plenty of redeeming qualities such as excellent schools, and I wouldn't mind living there depending on the area ( Monmouth, Ocean County etc. )

You really hate this decision huh?
My home has almost doubled in value since I bought it. I'm selling high, that's how this game works. It's all funny money anyway.
And for everyone who knee-jerk reverts to "but the taxes are higher", that really depends on the town. Ours will be about the same for a comparable sized house here.

We will most likely end up in Monmouth. Living in Monmouth will be FAR better than the current iteration of NYC. Not even close. Ocean is #2 for family reasons but it's a little too far for my comfort level between the kids and my job bringing me back to this craphole so often.

My beef with jersey is it's even more poorly run than nys. My top three are ca, nj and ny. Taxes are only going up and these are hcol areas ti begin with.
I think it’s a good idea although I think the speed limits are too slow on most streets. Why should it be 25 mph on a side street and the same 25 mph on 8 lanes of Queens Boulevard?
A pedestrian can die by a 2mph hit, it doesn't matter what the speeds are. The problem with speed limits and red light cameras is it's all a money grab.
I'm glad that NJ Governor Chris Christie removed the red light cameras in all of NJ because he spoke the truth that it's a money grab by the towns that implemented them and showed no improvement in accidents.
The real fix to accident prevention is taking bad drivers off the road. What legislation has stopped people from getting access to cars since so many suspended drivers are on the road.

You can stop somebody in the act of driving with a suspended license, but how do you prevent them from simply getting behind the wheel in the first place?

Jersey has it's own budget issues and Democratic-run criminals.
