I think it’s a good idea although I think the speed limits are too slow on most streets. Why should it be 25 mph on a side street and the same 25 mph on 8 lanes of Queens Boulevard?
Mayor De Blasio wants to turn speed cameras on full 24 hrs
Response:Opinion
So I hear that Mayor De Blasio wants to
bolster speed camera enforcement.
He wants to keep speed cameras on for a full 24
hours round the clock
The claim is that unsafe driving speeds due to
emptier streets as a result of Covid are to blame
The data released 2014-2019
Automated Speed Enforcement Program Report.
Based on this logic may I offer the following suggestion.
Reopen the city to business as usual.
This will fill the streets with people and cars and
bring the driving speeds down to a safe level.
( sarcasm you think )
Everytime DeBlasio sees a car driving by, he sees a giant wallet with money pouring out. Him and Trottenberg are TA's butt puppets.

We're so close to leaving now. Saw this today and just chuckled. This should be the last NYC policy that affects me as he'll probably get it rammed through before we leave.
Mortgage pre-approval came through today! Fingers crossed we can find a house now and win a bid from all the other people fleeing this city!

Best wishes. Hoping to post same in the near future.
Don't want to relive the 70's................
As NYC continues to struggle financially during the Covid economy, look for more foolishness like this.
Note, especially with apps like WAZE out there that tell you where all of the speed cameras are, I don't inherently have a problem with this plan. The problem I have with this plan is that it seems to be nothing more than a money-making trap. I want to see data that supports increasing specific speed cameras to 24/7. Citing generally that 3/4 of traffic deaths occur at locations and times with no automated cameras doesn't cut it. There is a speed camera near one of the schools in Prospect Heights. While I can always support slower speeds especially during school hours (though speed humps probably work better for that), I am tracking zero traffic fatalities on this block.
