The miserable think the world evolves around them when in reality the works moves past them. Bars!

On paper NYC may never officially be "dead" however us native born/bred GenXers (and boomers I guess) know that NYC really died a long time ago! It's NYC in name only.

A new Douglas Elliman Real Estate report shows the number of signed sales contracts doubled for apartment sales in Manhattan and Brooklyn in January when compared to January 2020.

What You Need To Know
Pent up demand, low mortgage rates and sellers willing to take less for their property led to a sharp increase in sales activity

Newly signed co-op contracts in Manhattan increased by 167% from January 2020 to January 2021

Newly signed co-op contracts in Brooklyn increased by 156% from January 2020 to January 2021

Jonathan Miller of Miller Samuel Real Estate Appraisers says prices will continue to "be soft" until the vaccine has been widely distributed
That doesn't reflect at all what I've been noticing for the Upper West Side of Manhattan market. At all.

No place ever truly “crumbles and dies,” especially now that Earth’s population continue to explode and there’s no more new land to build on. Detroit still has people living in it. Same with Buffalo, Newark, Camden, and all other depressed areas. Even Rome is still around.

What people are talking about is how a city declines from it peak in prosperity, popularity, vitality, importance, etc. In that regard, yes NYC has and will continue to decline relative to other places in the world.
