I'd love to, especially because I really want a tesla one day. I have been pro-electric for years. The politicization of energy is so obvious. We've had the means to ditch fossil fuels completely since the 50's.
I'm team Biogas

Not worth it, don't do it. Gas powered generator is the way to go. I have a 22 Gigawatt system and 2 powerwall systems at $6k a pop isn't going to run my house for more than 2 days. With gas generator I can keep running endlessly as long as no disruption in gas.
The cost of powerwalls isn't worth it until it drops down to $3k each.
Gas powered generators kick ass but you're still depending on some type of grid
If I'm trying to ride it out I'm really not trying to depend on anybody

Almost 50 New York City public schools will get solar arrays as part of a joint project between the New York Power Authority and the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services.
“With extreme weather events increasing in frequency, New York needs to take every possible opportunity to address climate change,” said Governor Kathy Hochul. “This transformational investment in solar and energy storage will help New York meet our bold green energy goals and chart a cleaner future.”
The project also includes installing a number of solar arrays on several water treatment facilities in order to push New York state closer to the clean energy targets outlined in the 2019 Climate Act. Under the Climate Act, the state committed to rolling out 100 megawatts of solar energy systems on city-owned properties by 2025 as part of a greater effort to reduce the city’s carbon emissions by 80 % by the year 2050.
i would get solar, but what about issues in the future of roof leaks? the more stuff you drill into the roof, more risk of leaks. Then i also see pidgeons roosting under some homes with solar panels

That makes some sense. It's a larger capital commitment at first, but supposedly most schools won't be going anywhere for at least the next several years and likely much longer so you're around long enough for the payback period to work out. The question here is what the financing comes from and if the terms are decent.

You would supposedly work with a skilled installer and with some kind of warranty rather than DIY it yourself which would be difficult anyhow with permitting and licensing requirements.

Have you seen the reviews for the new Rivian truck?
I've been considering dropping a deposit one all week. I wonder what their lead time is? The Rivian would be about as perfect a vehicle as has ever existed for my lifestyle.
