this omni card sounds like it sucks.

I just want to buy a card that does not expire and is easy to refill. LA has NYC beat on this.

I did not have to register.

sick of this big brother metric collector crap.

China is just going to hack it and put me a labor camp before deblasio and cuomo

I never had a problem as I believe there are just a very few routes in Manhattan that one can't transfer for free in the other direction with the Metrocard.

There are more than just a few in Manhattan, but I don't transfer all that much like that to know them in Manhattan or outside of it. I think someone here mentioned the Lexington Av buses being an example, but I haven't used those lines in a while to know.

In general you cannot get free transfer from and to same line of busy or subway. That is if you take the M15 south bound, you cannot get back on same bus going north for free. Ditto subway; you can take the "Q" south bound, but cannot transfer back onto it for north bound trip.

Same with cross town buses. People try to take say SBS across 79th to UWS from UES, then want a free transfer to get back across park later, that won't (or shouldn't happen). Transfer to any of the buses or subways on west side OTOH is free.

Personally am loving OMNY, don't miss Metrocards one bit.

When train is coming into station no more messing around with a machine that doesn't read card, and of finding "insufficient balance" message. Just bang, zoom, boom!

Exactly! I don't get the hesitancy. I guess it is anxiety from switching from something familiar to something new. My life has changed with OMNY. No more sweating looking for coins. No more worrying about my card getting damaged. No more weird balances. It's like welcome to the 21st century lol.
