If people don't want to see the type of content I am posting they are free not to click on my posts.

If people want to see content about anything else there are a few hundred regular posters who post other content.

This is the content that interests me.

after thirty days, an owner must be able to prove a right to the
property and proceed with legal eviction proceedings.

The special proceeding may give the owner an order that a sheriff can
then enforce to remove the squatter. The owner may not remove the
tenant himself.

As a bi-product of the strained housing market, squatters are
infiltrating neighborhoods, entering empty properties and abusing the
loophole in New York State law. This legislation will remove the
protection granted under current law and exclude squatters from the
definition of tenant.

LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New bill.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: To be determined

EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect immediately."

Hmm, that's pretty good, Seventh! Not sure what amazes me more - that NY State government actually proposed a sensible bill which protects an ordinary law-abiding property owner, or that you support such a bill :-).

But if the bill didn't pass, I would still change the lock on squatters. They can sue me if they want.

Why would I not support a bill against people getting robbed, essentially this is whats happening

I've been robbed in the street twice as a youth (once at gunpoint) and its one of the worst feelings ever

You act like squatters rights or drug dealing is a brand-new thing

You really need a new hobby

The property owner should have secured the property immediately

Who leaves anything unsecured in most parts of the Bronx anyway

Surprised they didn't bother the reporters taking pictures
"Drug dealing ain't brand new. What's the big deal."

Everything ain't a big deal to you. If someone stuck their foot up your ass, would it not be a big deal to you either? After all, it happens all of the time.

I do not see this anywhere in the link you posted. This appears to be a bill proposed by GOP in 2013-2016, which was never passed, and I do not see any new action on it. As far as I know, squatters can still merrily establish residence in NY by openly occupying a property for 30 days. My amazement about the fact that NY could have actually seriously considered an actual bill protecting a lawful owner (or at the fact that you would post something of that sort which would exist in any kind of reality) was short-lived.... :-)

I simply posted to make others aware of its existence

What you posted is a bill that does not exist. It was proposed in 2013 and considered for 3 years, but was never passed. That equals non-existence.

Is this the property being discussed?

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/3...9788158_zpid/?

It indicates it was sold in September 2020 for almost $1 million.
